“Over the last number of years the traffic congestion on Milltown Road and Castle Street has become increasingly problematic. Many commuters face considerable delays due to sizeable tailbacks on these roads, the tailbacks then cause problems for those who use the area on a regular basis, including residents in the Bravallen Road and Finvoy Road areas.

“I have in contact with Transport NI several times over the last year. I have requested that they look at various options to ease congestion. They have informed me that a number of schemes are programmed in the vicinity of Castle Street. These include a) adding audible signals for pedestrians crossing the traffic signals at Main Street b) Resurfacing works at Gate End. These will involve slight alterations. They have also committed to carry out queue length survey after the works have been completed, which is likely to be around October.”
