Adjournment in case of indecent photos of children

A full file relating to the case of a man with a Portstewart address is not due to be ready until September 5, a prosecutor has told Coleraine Magistrates Court.

Jason Woodrow (26), of Coleraine Road, faces three charges relating to June 3, 2015.

He is accused of making an indecent photo or pseudo-photo of a child; possessing an indecent photo or pseudo-photograph of children and possessing an image of a child ‘which was of such a nature as is prohibited’ by the Coroners and Justice Act.

The accused, who was wearing a shirt and tie in the dock, was remanded on continuing bail and had his case adjourned to a date in September.

MAN HAD FEAR OF NEEDLES

A Coleraineman who failed to provide a blood sample after being spotted swerving a car across a road claimed he had a fear of needles.

John Kelly (29), a joiner/locksmith of Laurel Hill Road, was stopped by police on the Frosses Road near Ballymoney on June 19 this year.

A prosecutor said at 11.56pm on June 18 police received a report of an abandoned suspicious vehicle in the Carnduff Park area and they later spotted it at Drones Road where they saw it swerving over the road. They stopped it at Frosses Road and Kelly told police he had taken prescription medication at 10pm.

Defence barrister Michael Smith said his client had “taken quite a lot” of prescription medication including subutex and diazepam. He said his client failed to give a blood sample to police because he had a fear of needles but had offered a urine sample. The defendant pleaded guilty to driving while unfit and failing to provide a specimen.

District Judge Liam McNally said it was a more serious offence not to provide a specimen and banned Kelly from from the road for 15 months and fined him £300.

USED ELBOW TO BREAK MOTHER’S WINDOW

A Ballycastle man drank ten cans of beer on July 12 this year before using his elbow to break the window of a car belonging to his mothe

Daniel James Craig (30), of Leyland Meadows admitted damaging the Peugeot 306 around 5pm on the date in question. A prosecutor said the defendant had an argument with his mother about his drinking and after damage was caused in a bedroom Craig broke the car window and later was apologetic to police over his actions. He told District Judge McNally he was “regretful” over the “drunken mistake” and he had replaced the car window the next morning. He was fined £100.
