Afrojack and Katy B: Get ready for a big party!

Dutch DJ and producer Afrojack has been confirmed as the main headliner for the forthcoming MTV Crashes gigs in Londonderry.

Katy B will join the Rotterdam-native, alongside Professor Green and MNEK on September 19.

Afrojack, whose given name is Nick van de Wall, said: “I’m very excited to play MTV Crashes, I’ve never been to Derry!

“The line up so far looks great, it will be fun to get up there alongside Professor Green, and MNEK. Get ready for a big party!”

Katy B said: “It’s going to be an amazing experience, to be back up on the stage in front of the massive Derry crowd! I’m really looking forward to it!”

Mayor of Londonderry, Brenda Stevenson said: “I am delighted to hear the news that Afrojack will be headlining the MTV Crashes event, with support from Katy B, who was such a great champion for the city during our Culture year.

“This completes our Friday night line up, which promises to be an unforgettable evening of music in our beautiful Ebrington Square.

“And with more talent still to be announced for the Club MTV night on Saturday, and the citywide Music Trail on Sunday, this is just the first night in a weekend celebration of music that will once again put Derry on the map in terms of hosting world class events.”

Sunday evening will see the music celebrations continue for a third evening with the Music Trail, featuring even more top class talent, who will take to a number of stages across the city.

Susie McCullough, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Director of Business Support and Events, said: “Following the legacy of the UK City of Culture 2013, this is a very significant event which will further strengthen Derry~Londonderry’s appeal, boost local confidence and position the city as a creative, cultural and musical hub.

“With the high calibre of acts on stage, it is sure to attract a global audience and NITB is delighted to support this fantastic event.”

MTV Crashes Londonderry is being staged in collaboration with Derry City Council and with support from Ilex, and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
