After school club at Tannaghmore

A NEW after school care club is set for Tannaghmore Primary School.

Following the resounding success of the school’s breakfast and after school activity clubs, they have responded to the voice of the north Lurgan community by giving the green light to an after school care club.

According to Principal Peter O’Loan, since the idea of establishing such a provision was first mooted interest levels have been overwhelming.

Anticipating an enthusiastic response, Mr O’Loan predicted many parents will be delighted with the prospect of their local school offering a solution to the difficult conundrum of balancing work and family commitments.

Such a proposition, he felt, would become all the more attractive with the reassurance that their childcare will be in the hands of dedicated school professionals in an environment that is local, familiar and stimulating.

Final details of Tannaghmore’s after school care scheme are still being ironed out but a September 2011 launch for children aged five plus is already confirmed.

Staffing will be provided by the school’s current team of classroom assistants and fees will be charged at a minimum level. It is also envisaged that the programme will be extended to offer an after school hours provision for pre-school children in the area.

Parents wishing to express a provisional interest in enrolling their child will be given the opportunity to do so within the following days with final registration occurring before the end of June.
