Ahoghill play park concern

Parental concerns over irresponsible littering at play parks in Ahoghill has prompted local MLA and Councillor Paul Frew to inspect the sites.

He said parents of young children had aired safety concerns with him over the presence of discarded items in play areas such as bottles.

“Having inspected the parks, Ahoghill hasn’t a bigger problem than other areas but it is a problem none the less,” said Cllr. Frew, adding he would be writing to the Council’s Chief Executive, Anne Donagy, to investigate.

He added that he is leading a campaign for a Council review of borough play parks, stating:

“I have received a tremendous amount of support for this initiative and it has raised awareness of the state of some of our parks.”
