PRESIDENT of Ahoghill Women’s Institute Jean Graham welcomed members back after the summer recess at their September agm especially chairperson for the evening Ethel Simpson and tellers Barbara Powell and Agnes Wharry.

Congratulations were conveyed to Maisie Hood on celebrating her 100th birthday in July.

Yvonne Crabbe read the secretary’s reports and Yvonne Reid gave the treasurer’s report.

The following prizes were presented to Jean Graham and Mamie Greer - the WI Cup; the Monthly Shield to Olive Dougan; Floral Art Cup to Mamie Greer; and, Mary Kernohan received the crystal bowl for home industries.

The new committee was elected as follows - Yvonne Crabbe, Liz Gardiner, Doloris Kenneway, Sylvia Kerr, Shirley Marshall, Hilary Courtney, Mary McMullan, Iris Rainey, Doris Rosborough, Valerie Shaw, Elizabeth Woods and Elizabeth Scullion who was elected the new president.

The vote of thanks to the visiting tellers and chairperson was given by Yvonne Reid and the new president presented gifts to them.
