Aidan had a kind word and smile ready for all

Aidan was the son of Vincent (Limerick) and Teresa McConville (Banbridge) and had three brothers John, Martin and Bobby and a sister Eva.

Brought up in Banbridge and educated at St Patrick’s Dromore Street, and Banbridge Academy, he spent most of his life working at Bowman Windows where he was held in great esteem by his employers and fellow workers.

He enjoyed being a member of the pool and darts teams and took a keen interest in the Rugby Club. Aidan was a member of Banbridge Golf Club throughout his life and even in latter years when his health was not good he continued to take a great interest in the club. He always had a kind word and a ready smile for all.

The funeral took place on Easter Saturday from William Bell and Co Funeral Directors after a short service to the Church of St Therese. Beautiful singing was provided by his neices Nadia and Maria and the large congregation heard Canon Liam Stevenson pay a fitting tribute to the esteem in which Aidan was held.

He was assisted by the Rev. Mark Greenstreet from Holy Trinity Parish Church.

The interment took place afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Dromore Road, Banbridge. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Chest, Heart and Stroke Association.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.

The family would like to most sincerely thank everyone who called and helped in any way during this very sad time. Thanks were also expressed for the Mass cards received, the neighbours and friends, the ladies from Banbridge and Tandragee Golf Clubs who paid their respects. The family also expressed their gratitude to those who provided the beautiful sandwiches and cakes during the long period of time.

The family also thanked William Bell and Co Funeral Directors for the dignified manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out.

Trusting this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of the family’s appreciation.

Aidan’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Church on Friday April 27.
