The evening also marked a new era for the charity as founder and three year chairperson Odhran Darragh stood down from his position seeking not to be re-elected in this capacity.

He said: "It's only natural for any organisation/charity to rotate roles like this. I have been in this position since day one and really feel It's time for a change. I am by no means walking away from the charity, I have too much passion for it and will remain as committed and as hard working as always but I wish my successer all the best in their role."

Odhran proposed a new joint chair initative for this year and proposed ex-treasurer Josphine Kelly and ex-secretary Moira Brennan to take this role.

This proposal was passed and the two ladies who have had personal battles with cancer will front the organisation for the following year. Continuing her very committed and supportive role as Vice Chairperson, Donna McKeown was re-elected.
