Emirates joins Moy Park, Dale Farm, BMW and Brewin Dolphin investors as event sponsors. The NI Executive is still set to be the main sponsor at this stage.

MLA David McClarty welcomed the annoucement, he said: “I am delighted that the Irish Open has secured its first major sponsor with Emirates.

“The airline is a world class partner for a world class event. It is a respected, successful brand that will bring global exposure to our little corner of the world.

“Emirates has recognised the huge success of Irish golf and with the incredible success stories of McDowell, McIlroy and Clarke right on our doorstep, the Irish Open in Northern Ireland has significant appeal.

“I congratulate all those involved for securing Emirates as a sponsor. Really fantastic news for the tournament, for Irish Golf and for Northern Ireland.”
