Airport to embark on three-hour jobs fair

Companies operating at the airport are creating almost 200 jobs which have to be filled within weeks to meet an expected increase in passenger numbers.

The jobs are in aviation security, retail, airport operations and aircraft and passenger handling services.

The Jobs Fair will get underway at 4pm next Monday (February 8) in the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick.

Belfast International Airport Human Resources Manager, Jaclyn Coulter, says the Jobs Fair is designed to encourage people to look at the full range of employment opportunities available at a dynamic airport facility.

Ms Coulter said: “All of the businesses and firms in expansion mode at the airport will be represented at the jobs fair. They have vacancies and are currently recruiting people.

“Our airlines are expanding seat capacity and the imminent arrival of Ryanair on the scene next month will mean even more job opportunities. Ryanair will operate six routes with three based aircraft and expect to handle one million passengers in its first full year of operation.

“All of that means there will be hundreds more jobs created in the support and supply chain which represents a very significant boost for the Northern Ireland economy.

“Since December, we’ve announced 183 new jobs and while many of them are already filled, many more will be created this year. This thee-hour Jobs Fair is a first for the airport and our partners, so if you think you’d like to work at the airport, this is your chance to come along and see what’s on offer.”

All of the jobs announced to date are at no cost to local job creation agencies or the devolved administration.
