Commenting on his selection, Alan said, “It is a great privilege to be chosen to stand as a UKIP candidate in Lagan Valley on 7th May.

“In what promises to be an historic General Election, UKIP offers the only real choice to voters here.

“I have long wanted to bring Northern Ireland out of its political isolation from the rest of the United Kingdom and realise that UKIP is the only party which shares that aspiration.I want to see the UK released from the prosperity-destroying shackles of the undemocratic European Union. The voters of Ulster have a choice.
