Alf makes the U3A headlines

A large turnout of Causeway University of the Third Age (U3A) members and their guests gathered in Portstewart Golf Club last Thursday October 2 for their monthly meeting.

U3A chairman Jerry Sayers welcomed all those present and up-dated members on forthcoming events before introducing the guest speaker, veteran journalist and author Alf McCreary. Mr McCreary is currently religion correspondent with the Belfast Telegraph.

Mr McCreary had reported extensively on the troubles and he made particular mention of the Kingsmills Massacre, the killing of Lord Mountbatten and the Enniskillen bombing. Following that atrocity he formed a close friendship with the late Gordon Wilson whose daughter Marie was killed.
