All systems go as work to start on new Lidl store

Work is to start on Monday on the new Lidl store in Kitchen Hill, Lurgan.

The company confirmed today (Friday) that a contract has been awarded to McCallion Construction to build the new store at Pinehurst Retail Park.

It will replace the existing store at Castle Lane.

Construction is expected to last six months.

A spokesperson said, “Throughout the construction, Pinehurst Retail Park will remain open for business and we thank customers in advance for their patience and understanding throughout this period.

“We would like to thank Carol and her team in Alana Interiors along with Lorraine and her team in Funky Monkeys Lurgan for their support as we endeavour to improve the offering for local shoppers in Pinehurst Retail Park.

“Our new store will be a visually attractive, modern build which will offer our customers a superior shopping experience.”

Lidl operate 38 stores across Northern Ireland and employ more than 800 people.

Lidl also work with 50 Northern Irish suppliers and in 2016 spent £85 million on locally sourced products.
