Allister “saddened” by DVA jobs losses

North Antrim TUV MLA Jim Allister has said he is “saddened” at the loss of 300 jobs at the DVA in Coleraine.

“I am saddened by the news that more than 300 jobs are set to be lost in Northern Ireland due to the centralisation of the DVA services in Swansea, Wales,” he said.

“There has been a tremendous effort made by the DVA staff to highlight the Northern Ireland specific role they play in order to make a sound case for the retention of their offices in the province. They should be congratulated for their passion and determination, and it is with regret that the decision has not gone in their favour.

“My thoughts and best wishes are with those who are now having to enter the labour market in search of a new job, and I hope they can get assistance where it is needed.”
