Allister welcomes voting initiative in Ballee

TUV LEADER Jim Allister has welcomed the Electoral Commission's selection of Ballee Ward as one of nine to be targeted in Northern Ireland because of its low registration level.

He said: "The right to vote was won at a great price. Sadly, in many areas voter registration is falling - and recent political scandals won't help.

Residents in areas like Ballee, who need a stake and say in the community, should take advantage of this opportunity.

“I, therefore, encourage a big uptake and co-operation with the Electoral Commission on this worthwhile venture. People in Ballee and others unregistered elsewhere are just as entitled as anyone else to have their say; they should not let their rights go by default."
