Almost 800 fines for dog fouling and littering

NEARLY 800 fines for dog fouling and littering were issued in the Borough in the past year, it has been revealed.

In total, 793 £50 fixed penalty notices were issued in 12 months.

Speaking at Monday night’s monthly meeting of Craigavon Borough Council, DUP Alderman Stephen Moutray welcomed the news, describing dog fouling as a “deplorable practice”.

“Along with Belfast, we are the most pro active council in Northern Ireland when it comes to this issue,” said Alderman Moutray.

“One of the hotspots is Park Avenue in Lurgan, and I would ask that the dog warden pay particular attention to this area.

“Although we are doing well, we still have quite a way to go to eradicate this deplorable practice.”

DUP councillor Mark Baxter added that Donaghcloney also experienced similar problems.
