Almost £4000 awarded to local groups

ELEVEN groups in the Ballymoney area will benefit from almost £4000 in grants to help with various initiatives.

A meeting of the Borough Council agreed to fund the groups with £350 each for various events.

The grants are said to meet the criteria set down by the council and were approved following the recommendation of Alderman Bill Kennedy, seconded by Councillor Ian Stevenson.

Benefitting are: Cloughmills Boys and Girls Football Club for assistance towards a cross community dance; Compass Advocacy Network for assistance towards a ‘Best Buddies Scheme’; North Antrim Cultural and Musical Society for assistance towards a historical display; Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club for assistance towards an annual cultural family fun day; Bendooragh Apprentice Boys Cultural Society for assistance toward an Alternative St. Patrick’s Day; Japanese Cultural Centre for assistance towards a Diverse Cultural Awareness Event.

Japanese Cultural Centre for assistance towards a Samurai Arts display; Dunaghy Flute band for assistance towards a cultural workshop; Ballymoney Elim Church, Crown Jesus Ministries for assistance towards a Street Reach programme; St. Bridget’s GAC for assistance towards a Cloughmills Got Talent and Slieve An Orra Airmen Memorial Fund for assistance towards a memorial event.
