Altnagelvin A&E waits

OF the 4,109 people attending the Altnagelvin A&E department in February just three had to wait more than 12 hours with 78.9 per cent of patients seen within four hours - better than the average across all NI emergency care facilities (73.2 per cent).

Across the Western Trust the performance was even better with 85.1 per cent of 7,057 patients seen in less than four hours.

Other hospitals did not fare so well with just 73.2 per cent of 43,551 A&E attendees across Northern Ireland seen in less than four hours in February.

At least 1,196 people had to wait fro more than 12 hours to be treated according to newly-published statistics from the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS).
