Always wanted to be buried here

Mr Samuel Arlow, who was brought up in Rathfriland Street, was educated at the Abercorn Primary School and emigrated to Canada at the early age of 18 years.

He returned to his native heath before moving to Liverpool where he met his bride Miss Edna Bowen.

Samuel had been an engineer at sea with the Merchant Navy. When returning to ‘civvy street’ he worked as an engineer in various factories in Liverpool.

About 20 years ago he set up his business as a fish merchant until he retired.

Keen on sport he played in local soccer here in Banbridge playing in the Summer League for Glenview and followed the fortunes of Liverpool F.C. attending many matches.

Brought up in the parish of Seapatrick in the days of Canon Parr, Samuel always wanted to return in the event of his passing.

He is survived by his wife Edna, brothers Joe, Bobby, Harry and sisters Sally and Jean. The funeral took place from William Bell and Co. Funeral Home last Tuesday to the New Cemetery and was conducted by The Rev. David Luckman. William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
