Alzheimers team for Model Tractor Show

VOLUNTEERS from the Alzheimers Society team in the Causeway Area are on a drive to raise awareness and funds for this essential local body leading the fight against dementia.

The term ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes and problems reasoning and communicating. There are many types. The most common are Alzheimers Disease and Vascular Dementia. Dementia is progressive which means that the symptoms will gradually get worse.

The local Alzheimers team hasd announced details of some of forthcoming fundraising activities.

On Friday, October 26 a Beetle Drive will be held at Ballysally Primary School, Coleraine, from 7.00pm. Everyone is encouraged to come along, bring a friend and join in the fun.

On Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 Alzheimers Society will be the charity partner at the Northern Ireland Farm Toy and Model Show in the Magherabuoy House Hotel, Portrush.

All proceeds from prize draws held throughout the event and a model tractor auction on the Friday night will go towards Alzheimers Society.

Speaking on behalf of the show, organiser Alastair Bell, said: “We are delighted to assist in supporting the ongoing invaluable work of the Alzheimers Society here in Northern Ireland.“ Volunteers from the Alzheimers Society will be be offering information and advice at the event.
