Artist Amanda McAfee talked to Art and Contemporary Crafts students about her felt pieces, many of which are influenced by the natural environment.

Pieces are intricately, needle felted by hand and range from small 3D birds and animals to larger framed pieces, featuring sheep and hares.

Amanda has featured in recent art and craft trails in Islandmagee and currently has several pieces on display in the Bank House, in Whitehead where she also delivers monthly workshops in hand felting.

Examples of Amanda’s work can be found on her Facebook page ‘Lazy Bob.’

In a statement, Downshire described the session as “a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about felt-making, aspects of business practice and also about potential careers in arts and crafts”.
