Amazing £26,000 raised by Hegartys!
The family made the presentation to Mark McMahon of Cancer Research UK. The incredible amount was achieved from a fundraiser in memory of Margaret held at the Wild Duck on October 25th.
“This is an incredible achievement for the family and all involved in the organisation of the event,” said a spokesperson.

Hide AdMark McMahon (local Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research UK) was delighted to accept the cheque and said the donation will be put to good use in Northern Ireland within Cancer Research and Cell Biology at
Belfast City Hospital.
Margaret Hegarty was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer in November 2013. The former proprietor of Direct Stitch in Ballymena, she passed away in June 2014 aged 65.
The family then organised a fundraiser in the Wild Duck with music from Idyllic Dolls and Dave and Gerard (Beo Le Ceol) and comedy by Paddy McGaughey. Local businesses and individuals made donations for a raffle and auction including a painting by renowned artist Tom McGoldrick.
Some family members recently attended the Cancer Research Centre in Belfast - £2 million is spent every year in Belfast in lifesaving research.
