Amenities projects updated

Ballymoney councillors have been updated on a number of local amenities projects.

During a recent Leisure Services report explained: “The Director of Borough Services provided an update in respect of each of the undernoted projects within his remit where contracts had been let and facilities were under construction:

1.Drumaheglis Tourism Development Project

2.Dervock Community Facilities Project

3.Rasharkin Wellbeing Project

4.Glebeside Outdoor Recreational Facilities Project and

5.Drumaheglis Pontoon and Canoe Access Project

‘He then dealt with those schemes, listed below, which had yet to commence:

1.Megaw Park Improvement Scheme – members were advised that the park would close on 3rd February with the commencement of the contract and that the work would be complete by the end of August 2014. Councillor Stevenson advised as to the research he had done into the park’s history and suggested that Council mark the 75th anniversary of the park being a designated King George Playing Field.

2.Dervock Riverside Park RDP Scheme – this scheme would also commence in early February.

3.Drumaheglis Play Area – Council will be asked at its February to determine a contract commencement date.

4.Ballymoney Social Centre Upgrade Scheme

5.Killyrammer Community Centre Upgrade Scheme

6.Rasharkin Community Centre Upgrade Scheme

7.Ballymoney Riverside Park and

8.Dredging @ Drumaheglis Marina.

Alderman Bill Kennedy commended the hard work of the Director.
