American youth make a real 'impact' on Antrim for Christ

TWENTY-EIGHT young people from the Pathways Church in Appleton, Wisconsin recently visited Antrim to deliver the message of God's love in words and actions.

This energetic Youth Alive team were here to participate in Impact Antrim, an initiative organised by the Christian Fellowship Church (CFC) in the town to take the love of God in the Power of the Holy Spirit to the people within the area.

Talking about the project, CFC’s John Ashe said: “Impact Antrim served not only to let people know that we are a new church in Antrim but to tell them about Jesus in a relational way by serving their communities and showing those who we met that people actually care about them.”

Residents in the Steeple, Greystone, Springfarm and Rathenraw were visited by the US team, who worked alongside members of CFC Antrim.

Explaining what happened on a practical level, John added: “On Saturday we gave out thousands of packets of fruit pastels all with some of our churches literature. The main reason for this was to talk share and pray for people in the town.”

“From Monday to Friday, we went into an estate in the town and in the morning cleaned up by collecting litter and weeding streets and paths. In the afternoon we went door to door to share our faith, then end with a street party. We had music, bouncy castles, clowns, balloons and lots of high-energy fun. We then presented Jesus to them through the word, drama and practical help”, he said.

Each of the visiting team showed real commitment to the project. They raised and paid 1500 each to come and serve Antrim in this way.

And, according to John Ashe, many people’s lives were touched and changed by their dedication and kindness.

He observed: “People realised that Christianity was not some outdated dead religion but was active and real. They were blessed so much by what this team achieved. The people living in the estates we visited were so happy to see us. Antrim was well and truly impacted.

What we do on earth has echoes in eternity!”
