Amy chosen to dance in the Belfast Tattoo

Banbridge dancer Amy Crozier has been chosen to be part of a dance team at the upcoming Belfast Tattoo at the Odyssey Arena.

Amy will be part of the Highland Dance Troupe that will be performing at the three night event in September.

Choreographer Michelle Johnston held auditions with students from dance schools from throughout Northern Ireland and Amy, who attends the Kathryn Stewart School of Highland Dance, was one of 32 dancers chosen to take part in this event.

The troupe have been busily rehearsing and Amy is looking forward to the opening night of the show.

“I have been dancing for ten years and recently moved to the Kathryn Stewart School of Highland Dance in Banbridge,” explained Amy.

“I was asked if I would like to take part and I filled out a form. It was fantastic to be selected.

“We have been rehearsing four days this week for five hours. It is hard work but I have been enjoying it.

“We are doing two dances and it has been going really well.

“I am looking forward to the show opening, although I will probably be nervous on the first night.

“I am used to taking part in shows and competitions so I think after the first night nerves I will be ok.”

As well as the Highland Dance Troupe, there will be a wide variety of bands performing at the Tattoo, including pipe bands, silver bands, flute bands and drum majors.

This is the second year of the Belfast Tattoo and it is proving to be a highlight in the musical calendar.

The Tattoo will be held in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast from Thursday September 4 until Saturday September 6. Tickets, priced from £29.50, are on sale now from the Odyssey Arena Box Office on 9073 9074 or from all usual Ticketmaster outlets.
