Amy’s shining work for little stars appeal

She’s been running in the dark at Stormont, wearing her slippers to work and descending the Europa Hotel on a rope and now Amy Bennington is taking on yet another challenge for the Children’s Hospice.

Just recently Amy took up the role of marketing and PR officer with the newly founded Banbridge Children’s Hospice support group, and as Christmas approaches she is urging people to remember the charity’s very poignant Little Stars appeal.

“This Christmas, the Children’s Hospice will support almost 300 life-limited children across Northern Ireland,” said Amy.

“These children and their families need support and in many cases the Children’s Hospice service will be the only practical and emotional care and advice they get this Christmas. As part of the Little Stars Christmas Appeal, you can make a donation today and help the Children’s Hospice continue caring.”

Amy began volunteering for the Hospice in 2011 when she was on a year’s work placement with Power NI. After her placement she continued her fundraising efforts and was then approached, along with her friend Sophie, to join with other volunteers in setting up a local support group.

“As we’re from Banbridge and went to Edenderry Primary School and Banbridge Academy, we thought it would be a great idea to fund raise in the local community where we grew up. There are seven of us in the group and the reason we set it up is because we want to help care for these children and their families and help them make the most of the time they have together.”
