An Alzheimer’s Support event for carers begins

The Alzheimer’s Society will host a Carer Information and Support Programme (CrISP) in The Village Hall, Portballintrae starting on Tuesday, January 14 for four consecutive weeks.

The programme will look at key issues facing people with dementia and their carers, and will explore how to tackle them.

This is a structured programme consisting of four two-and-a-half hour sessions, from 1.00pm-3.30pm, and each programme can accommodate up to 12 people. As each session is linked it is recommended that you attend all four.

There are estimated to be 19,000 people in Northern Ireland with dementia. The term ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms which include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning. Each person is unique and will experience dementia in their own way, and with the support and understanding of those around them.
