Anderson in Linenhall library

GERRY Anderson, one of NI's most popular broadcasters, has presented copies of his published books to the Linen Hall Library confirming his place in the Library's internationally renowned Irish Collection.

His two publications Surviving Stroke City (Hitchinson, 1999) and Heads – A Day In The Life (Gill & Macmillan, 2008), both autobiographical, were well received by the public and the literary world.

They capture a delicious slice of Irish life with the recounting of Anderson's childhood and his time in an Irish showband.

Gerry Anderson said: "I've been a member of the Linen Hall Library for over ten years and often stop in and browse the shelves. I am very proud to be recognized as a bona fide contributor to Irish literature."

John Killen, Linen Hall Librarian, said: "The Linen Hall Library's Irish and Local Studies Collection is known throughout the world as the most comprehensive collection of published works on the island of Ireland.

"The collection celebrates all walks of life – from the sedate and serious to the radically raucous, and Gerry's works definitely add a unique voice to those represented."

Gerry Anderson currently broadcasts on BBC Radio Ulster. His books are available to borrow from the Library.
