Angela scales the heights

A LISBURN postwoman has swapped her post bag for a rucksack by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of children’s charity Barnardos.

Angela Sterrett, 39, travelled to Tanzania and took seven days to complete the climb of one of the largest mountains in the world.

She was joined by her brother Colin Woodward.

They both wanted to set themselves a challenge and at the same time do something worthwhile for charity.

So far the pair have raised £1,000 and would like to thank all their friends, family and work colleagues who sponsored their trek.

Angela said: “Royal Mail sponsored me as well as people on my duty - they have all been so kind and have been asking me all about it.”

“It was definitely the toughest thing I have ever done but it was absolutely brilliant and I would love to do it again. It is intense and hard work but you do get there. It Took us 6 days to reach the top and a day and a half to get back down. At times it was cold and windy and very emotional - I cried when we reached the top,” Angela explained.

“We didn’t know any of the others on our team but we soon got to know them well and we had the best laugh. Everyone supported each other which was lovely,” she added.
