Anger over £1m Rushpark plan

This week the Housing Executive announced a 40 week investment plan for Beechwood House and Woodland House in Rushpark costing in excess of £1million.

The executive has said it will be replacing lifts and renovating entrance and corridor areas of both blocks to improve, they say, the surroundings and provide residents with a “healthier and safer environment”.

While the work has been welcomed, Rathcoole resident Tommy Milne has called on the executive to carry out necessary works on his home before moving on to another project.

Tommy was initially pleased with the renovation work on his 11th floor flat in Glencoole House.

However, the work soon left him and his neighbours cold with draught problems.

He told the Times: “When I heard about the work in Rushpark, I just thought hopefully they do a better job than I feel they did here”.

“Since the work the flat is always cold and draughty, especially during the cold weather. The executive, its contractor, the architects have all been here to see what the problem is. I have had to tell them no more viewings, I want the work done.”

He added: “They need to sort out our problems before moving on to another scheme.

“I think they are hoping I forget about it, but when your heating’s on all day and you are getting massive electric bills, it’s very hard to forget.”
