Animal first aid event at Cromlyn House

A very wet Wednesday evening didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of more than 50 animal care professionals who attended an Animal First Aid Seminar in Cromlyn House Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough recently.

The evening started with a warm welcome from clinical director Lynn Heffron who then introduced members of the veterinary and nursing staff who gave short presentations on different aspects of first aid.

Topics covered included how to deal with an animal involved in a road traffic accident, management of epilepsy, accidental poisoning, heat stroke, collapse and over exertion, insect stings, whelping, wounds and bandaging techniques. A lively question and answer session followed the talks.

The evening finished with a guided tour of the hospital by nursing staff. A collection was held for the well known local animal rescue charity, Animal Connections and a total of £238 was raised.
