Anita dedicated her life to her family

Anita, as she was affectionately known, was the dearly loved wife of the late John Strainger, 8 Maryville Close, Banbridge.

Anita, who was up and about as usual on the Thursday, took ill and was taken into hospital that evening suffering from a severe stroke. She passed away on Friday.

A woman of a cheery and friendly disposition, she was held in the highest regard by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A native of Clones, Anita went to reside in Fermanagh after her marriage and then came to live in Banbridge a number of years ago.

A woman whose life was dedicated to her home and family, Anita suffered a great loss on the passing of her son John.

A mother of eight girls and two boys, she dedicated her life to her family. She attended St Paul’s Parish Church, Gilford, in her earlier days and was more recently associated with Holy Trinity Parish Church.

She is survived by daughters Violet, Maureen, Anne, Valerie, Christine, Edwina, Jillian, Jennifer and one son Alan.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended. The funeral took place from her home for a service in Holy Trinity Parish Church at which the large congregation heard her minister, Archdeacon WJ Scott, pay a fitting tribute to Anita’s life.

The Archdeacon was assisted by Captain Geoffrey Walmsley. The hymns “The Lord’s My Shepher” and “Abide With Me” were sung while Mr Rory Anketel presided at the organ.

The interment took place at the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co Funeral Directors for Chest. Heart and Stroke Association.
