Annual ‘Best Kept’ search is now on

The search is now on for Northern Ireland’s best presented healthcare facilities, schools, housing areas, towns and villages with the Northern Ireland Amenity Council’s recent launch of its their annual ‘Best Kept’ Awards.

The awards aim to highlight and recognise outstanding community spirit and the dedication of individuals who volunteer their time to improve their environmental surroundings.

The 2015 competition was formally launched by Doreen Muskett MBE, Chair of the NIAC; Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Terry A’Hearn, Retail Network Manager for new sponsors Open+Direct Insurance, John Laverty and UTV’s Joe Mahon, a patron of the awards.

The judging panel will pay particular interest to floral displays, grass roots environmental projects and an absence of litter and graffiti in the area with clear evidence of community participation.

The first category to be judged, In April, will be the ‘Best Kept School’ Awards which have an entry deadline of 15 March.
