Annual choir concert

ONCE again the Annual Concert of the Ballymoney and District Male Voice Choir will take place in the John Armstrong Hall of Dalriada School on Saturday 20th March at 7.30pm.

The well known choir with a long history stretching back to 1933 was founded by the late James (Jim) Moore A.R.C.O. This year the choir once more will be conducted by Mrs. Margaret Brown with the accompanist Mrs. Nora Flanagan. There will be an eclectic mix of music for the concert with the Choir opening with the rousing tune of “Stout hearted men” from “The New Moon” by Sigmund Romberg, followed by the contrasting quiet harmonies of “The Candle Song” sensitively arranged for four part male harmony by Alec Gillen so long associated with the Choir as conductor for 23 years and still singing in the Baritone section.

This year the guest soloist will be Maureen Murphy, Soprano, and now based in Belfast, and the the young Flautist from Ballymena, Stephen Rankin
