Annual Christmas Tree Festival at Ballymena Methodist

CHRISTMAS is always a very special time and once again the local congregation of Ballymena Methodist Church is hosting a number of special activities to encourage the young and the not-so-young to enter into the spirit of the season.

The annual Christmas Tree Festival will focus on local community organisations and how they serve the needs of the wider Ballymena area including Blytheswood Care, Ballymena Inter Church Forum, Ballymena Inter Ethnic Forum, CEDAR Foundation, CRUSE, ROC, Samaritans and Women’s Aid.

The festival will be launched on Saturday, December 1, together with a Christmas Craft Fair to be held in the Church Hall from 10am to 4pm.

Local businesses and craft enterprises will have a variety of stalls on display including jewellery and handbags; cakes, cards and ceramics, patchwork, pottery and plants. There will also be an opportunity to have family pictures taken with Santa who will be paying a special visit to his Grotto on Saturday.

Tea and coffee will be served throughout the day with all proceeds and donations given for the support of local charities and the ’Tractor for the Zambia’ appeal.

Throughout the month of December in addition to the regular services, the church will be also hosting a number of special activities. The Salvation Army will lead an evening of special Christmas music for Advent on the Friday, December 7.

From Tuesday to Friday, December 11-14, local schools have been invited to ‘Follow that Star’ – an interactive telling of the Christmas story through drama, arts and crafts and puppetry designed for children under nine.
