Now into its 9th year, the concert has proven to be very popular amongst the young local students of the LCM centre in town.

Local Representative for the College, Mrs Sonya Russell, who formerly lived and taught in the town (1996-2003), is once again organising the event.

The LCM Examination Centre - now in its 18h year - is actively involved in the promotion of music and the arts among both young and old in the town and the surrounding area.

Local teachers can enter their students three times a year for examinations with LCM. These examinations cover a wide range of musical instruments as well as singing, Speech & Drama and Music Theatre.

Performers at the Concert will include those who have taken Piano, Singing, Guitar, and Speech exams in the past year.

There will be a varied programme ranging from exam pieces to popular composers of the day.

All ages will be taking part, from the very young and those who are just beginning their musical career, to the more advanced in their particular field of the arts.

Special Guest on the evening will be Mr Peter Reder, one of LCM’s Examiners who will be at the Dromore Centre to examine for the College.

In addition to speaking, he will also present awards, including the “Sonya Russell Cup of Achievement” and the “Music Galleria Shield of Excellence”.

Mrs Russell is looking forward to the evening and invites all who have an interest in music, speech and theatre to come along and enjoy the varied programme provided by talented young people.

There will also be a selection of LCM Exam books and other music books available to purchase on the evening.

The charity benefiting from the proceeds this year will be “Craigavon Cardiac Care Association”.

It was founded in 1968 to assist cardiac research and the treatment of heart patients. Over the years their fund-raising efforts have provided a cardiac ambulance, defibrillators for community use and much needed care for patients. Mrs Russell is encouraging as many as possible to support this worthy cause.

The Concert will be held at 7.30pm in Dromore High School and tickets, priced £5 and £3.50 (Con) are available at the door on the night.
