Annual Magherafelt CWU Conference

MAGHERAFELT Christian Workers’ Union Conference has reached its third year and is being held on Friday, September 7, at 8pm in the Garden Street Hall, Magherafelt.

Its beginnings date far back into the 1920s when Rev W.P. Nicholson missioned in 1st Magherafelt Presbyterian Church, which many affectionately call “Upper Meeting.”

Many folk came to know Christ as Saviour in those days and from these beginnings sprang the many CWU halls over Northern Ireland. A regional conference has been in existence in Maghera since 1960 and continued there until 2009 when the conference moved to Magherafelt CWU Hall.

This year the conference speaker is Pastor Jackie Hughes from Ballykeel Baptist Church in Co Down. Jackie pastored in Coagh Baptist Church in past years and we look forward to a rich ministry from him.

The other speaker at the conference is Samuel Adams, from Every Home Crusade/Revival Movement. This organisation is based in County Down and sends literature all over the world where it is readily accepted and many are coming to know the Saviour. Samuel will take us through the early days of the organisation and give us a “world tour” of the present day situation - this should be a challenging and interesting story.

All are welcome to attend the conference which will conclude with supper.
