The chair said this year would see an increase in activity with another French evening, film showing, conversation classes and further exchanges.

Councillor McCambridge, who agreed to occupy the chair following the resignation of Mrs Margaret Gault paid tribute to her predecessor and said it was most regrettable that a person who had done so much for the Association down the years was no longer there.

She also thanked the officers for their hard work and diligence and expressed the hope that the Association would remain active and thus develop Franco/Irish friendship.

Cllr. McCambridge was re-elected chairperson with Nigel McCartney returned as secretary. Bob Smith was re-appointed assistant secretary and the position of treasurer held by Sean McCambridge was deferred to the next meeting of the committee. Councillor Seamus Blaney will serve another term as President. A talk and slide show followed.
