Annual Presbytery Sunday School Rally

Donagheady Presbyterian Church was buzzing on Sunday, May 12, with the Annual Presbytery Sunday School Rally.

The service opened with the Cookies group from Leckpatrick doing a dance to the song ‘We are the freedom generation’ after which Rev Rod Mulholland,Minister of Donagheady, welcomed all gathered, finding out where everyone was from.

He then opened in prayer after which Rev Mark Shaw, the Sunday School Secretary, led the service.

Chloe McElhinney from Donegal Town read Genesis 8 verses 15 to 22 and Louise Hunter from Raphoe read Exodus 14 verses 10 to 16. Andy Lamberton and his band led the singing.

A group from Donagheady sang ‘Jesus loves me’ and ‘Good News, Good News, Christ died for me’ accompanied by Mrs Beth Clarke, organist.

The theme for the afternoon was ‘Hope’ which was the theme of the Minister of Leckpatrick, Rev Mark Russell’s talk.

Claire Lamberton, CEF Director, Donegal, led a quiz based on characters of the Bible after which Mark Shaw called ‘Surprise! Surpise!’ Each child was given a leaflet ‘Good News for you.’ Inside three of these was a star. These three children got an envelope with a book token.

All children were given a little card as they came in and on it they wrote their prayer requests and came up and had them pinned onto the notice board at the front.

The service closed with the song ‘I’m ready to go’ after which all enjoyed refreshments in the church hall. Rev Shaw has been thanked for his work in organising the event, which has become a highlight in the Presbytery’s calendar.
