Another fine win from battling Coleraine

COLERAINE took another giant step towards maintaining their Senior League 2 status with a 2-0 win over Parkview last Saturday.

From the starting whistle the home team showed their determination with attacking runs from Jill Kennedy and Rachel Minihan finding the forward line of Caryn McLeod and Alison NIcholl, but were unlucky with their efforts at goal.

A shaken Parkview side, who had beaten Coleraine twice already this season, picked up their game and put pressure on the Coleraine defence, but the robust home defence of Alison Caldwell, Alice McGill, Clare Black and Laura Kemps squashed early attacks from the away side.

The Parkview defence fought hard to keep the ball out of the goal but they started to tire and Coleraine were awarded with another penalty corner. After a flawless injection from Caldwell and a perfect stop from Minihan, Mcleod hammered a brilliant shot into the back of the goal, opening the score line and putting Coleraine one up.

In the second half Coleraine held most of the possession and continued to attack Parkview and win several penalty corners.

The home forwards and midfield applied more pressure Parkview and were soon awarded another penalty corner.
