Anti-social behaviour plaguing Coagh residents

RESIDENTS in Coagh are being tormented by so-called anti-social behaviour fuelled by alleged drug use, it has been claimed this week.

The MAIL was contacted by a concerned resident of the village after on-going late night parties and disregard for the community took a sinister turn at the weekend.

The resident - who did not wished to be named - claimed that hooligans were making homemade improvised explosive devices and throwing them around with no regard for the safety of themselves or those around them.

Shockingly, one device - allegedly made from an aerosol can wrapped in a oily rag - found its way under a car on the village's main street. It was this incident at the weekend that was the final straw for local residents, as police were called to the scene.

"We have been terrorised by late-night parties in the area for some time now," claimed this resident, "they regularly last long into the night and normally these 'revellers' alternate between two houses quite close to each other.

"They don't care one bit how much noise they make or who they annoy.

"We were left with no option but to call police at the weekend after we saw them 'playing' with these aerosol cans.

“They were probably off their heads and didn't realise what they were doing. Someone could have been seriously injured or worse."

When contacted by the MAIL, the PSNI were able to confirm an incident took place on Friday night in Coagh and they spoke to both the tenants and the landlord, who served the tenants with immediate eviction notices.

One tenant left immediately while the others left on Monday of this week.

The PSNI advise people who feel they are victims of anti-social behaviour to contact either the PSNI or Environmental Health department of their local council immediately.
