Antrim Glens Tourism - 10th anniversary dinner

Antrim Glens Tourism Group celebrated its 10th anniversary with a dinner for members held in the Glens Hotel, Cushendall.

The Group is made up of tourism providers from the Cushendun, Cushendall and Glenariff areas. It was set up to promote tourism in the Heart of The Glens which had been badly affected by the outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease in 2002. Since then the group has grown to more than 50 members.

In addition to its own activities, the group cooperates with NITB, Causeway Coast and Glens Tourism Partnership and Moyle District Council.

Among many projects carried out in the past 10 years the group has contributed to the Causeway Coast and Glens Tourism Masterplan and produced promotional materials for national and international distribution.

One of its current projects is the promotion of the development of Glenariff Forest Park as a “Must Visit Destination” which would benefit the tourist economy of the whole area and balance the developments at the Giant’s Causeway.

At the dinner first Chairperson and present Secretary Noreen Delargy said “ Since its formation Antrim Glens Tourism has gone from strength to strength and raised the profile of the Heart of the Glens. The group will continue to work with the major tourism organizations to sustainably develop the tourist economy of the area to the benefit of all.”
