'Appalling record'

A man with an "appalling record" has admitted driving while disqualified close to his home.

Brian Paul Ward (29), of Claragh Court, Strathfoyle, also pleaded guilty to having no insurance on August 21 last.

Londonderry Crown Court Judge Piers Grant said Ward had an 'appalling record' and adjourned sentencing for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled.

The judge released Ward on his own bail of 250 and ordered him not to travel in any private car or as a front seat passenger in a taxi.

He added: "If the police see you in the front seat of a vehicle, this will be a breach of your bail."

The 29-year-old will appear in court again on February 22 for sentencing.
