Appeal after building gutted in early morning arson

A semi-derelict building in Johnstons Row in Lurgan has been gutted in a fire early this morning (Friday).

Police said the High Street building was deliberately set alight, and the incident could have had “absolutely disastrous effects” should the fire have spread.

Firefighters got the blaze under control quickly and no one was injured.

The PSNI are appealing for help. Anyone who saw a person or people acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Johnstons Row in the early hours of the morning or at any point in the week is asked to phone 101 and quote reference 115 of 31/03/17.
