Appeal after Knockmore arson attack

Police are investigating an intentional arson attack at the rear of the shops on Knockmore Square, Lisburn, on Thursday November 19.

A burning bin was pushed up against the rear of the shops during the incident, causing damage to the property.

The fire was reported to Police at 11.30pm on Thursday night (November 19) and the Fire and Rescue Service were tasked to the scene.

On this occasion the fire was extinguished by the Fire Service before it caused severe damage to the properties.

Lisburn Councillor Alexander Redpath has condemned those responsible for the arson attack and has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police in Lisburn as soon as possible.

“This is a disgraceful attack against small businessmen who work hard to provide services and employment to our community,” said Councillor Redpath.

“The people behind this arson should be ashamed of themselves.

“Anyone with information should immediately contact the PSNI on the non emergency number 101.

“It is essential that the community sends a strong message that there will be zero tolerance of this sort of criminality which represents an attack on the community as a whole.”
