Detective Constable Sonya Hawthorne said: ‘At 10pm on June 1, a couple answered a knock on the door of their Steedstown Road home to be confronted by a man, who had his face covered and was wearing gloves. The stranger spoke to the male occupant who refused him entry. The caller then tried to push his way into the house and threatened the householder. There was a scuffle and the intruder made off.

It is believed that the man then got into a black car, possibly an Audi with a registration plate that begins with the letters KLZ.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Steedstown Road area on the evening of June 1 and saw a vehicle matching this description or became aware of any suspicious activity. Detectives in Lisburn can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101, or if someone would like to pass information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
