The organisers Pat and Peter Hawkins say that a small tag could be attached to a poppy with a soldier’s name if desired.

The pair will be coming to Carrick to collect the knitted poppies before returning to Belgium ahead of the commemoration.

Dame Patricia Hawkins-Windsor MBE, a former Carrick resident who has been living in Flanders since 1972, and her husband Peter, also help with Somme Association visits from the province to Europe.
