Appeal for return of charity boxes

TROCAIRE has thanked the people of Newtownabbey for supporting its 2013 Lenten campaign through the Trocaire box appeal and is reminding people that collection boxes should now be returned.

“I would like to thank everyone who has taken a Trocaire box into their homes,” said Eithne McNulty, director of Trocaire in Northern Ireland. “The incredible fundraising efforts and generosity of people across the country is making an extraordinary contribution to changing the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.”

This year’s Trocaire Lenten campaign highlighted how donations from Northern Ireland are helping people living in the most isolated and forgotten rural communities in India, to improve their lives and their children’s futures.

“Catholic parishes across Co Antrim will gladly accept returned Trocaire boxes,” said Ms McNulty. “I would ask anyone who has a Trocaire box at home or in work to kindly drop it back to their local parish and we can start putting these generous donations into action.”
