Last month Mid Ulster was hit with a series of tragic road accidents, with four people losing their lives.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan is appealing to everyone to remain vigilant.

He said: “Tragically, we saw a dramatic increase in road deaths over the Easter holiday period. As we look forward to the upcoming long weekend, we cannot afford to be complacent.

“Collectively, as road users, we are making thousands of decisions everyday that save lives. Both our own, and the lives of those around us.

“We are all responsible for our own behaviour: drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists.

“One wrong choice can change lives forever. I ask all road users to remember you are responsible, not only for your own safety but for the safety of others. Respect Everyone’s Journey.”
