Appeal over football match assault

It was reported that an ‘off the ball’ incident occurred during a match between Ballymena and Glenavon.

Constable Colin Payne said: “During a football match between Glenavon and Ballymena at football grounds on Mourneview Avenue on Wednesday night, August 12, it was reported that an assault occurred during an ‘off the ball’ incident between two players.

“A 16-year-old male sustained facial injuries which required medical treatment.

“This incident would have occurred in view of the people who attended the match and we would like to hear from any spectators who witnessed the assault or have information which may assist our investigation.
